⛏️Pick me UP!⛏️

In Pick me UP!, every click launches your pickaxe (or other tool of mayhem of your choice) skyward. Smash through different ores, stack power, and climb as high as you can before gravity takes its toll. When your clicks run out, it’s time to crash and crack the Big Bad Ore

The 2025 theme is... POWER!

📑 Rules:

  • Click the pickaxe to launch it upward (Keep in mind that your clicks are limited)
  • Hitting ores grants effects (extra clicks, more velocity, gold)
  • When you run out of clicks, the pickaxe falls with built-up power
  • Smash into the ground to 💥BREAK💥the ore below. If you reach the required power threshold you can go the next level
  • Collect gold (by breaking gold ores) to unlock stronger tools

🎮 Controls:

Launch: [Left Click] to send the pickaxe upwards.
Propel: In mid-air, click on either side of the pickaxe to push it in the opposite direction

🌟 Bonuses:

During your climb in the Minesfaht, you will encounter ores and bonuses that you can collect by hitting them with your pickaxe:

The Gold Ore - collecting it will grant you 10 gold.

The Diamond Ore - collecting it will grant you 2 bonus clicks.
Dynamite - hit it to trigger a blast that sends you soaring even higher

ℹ️ Notes:

Think you’ve got what it takes to wield the almighty Golden Pickaxe of Destruction?  Collect 1,000 gold and see for yourself! Share your high scores in the comments and ejoy the game 💥
**The first run may be a little bit laggy**

I’m playing your game in this video:

:)

Thanks so much for checking out our game, really appreciate you taking the time!
Looks like we went in the wrong direction with the UI, and it’s not as clear as it should be. We definitely should’ve added some kind of tutorial too.

Also, just a heads-up: you’re supposed to click a bit faster to build up momentum and get that velocity going.

Thanks again for playing and for the feedback it really helps! :D

This is a strong contender in the Game Jam, perfect blend of a good concept and excellent execution. I think tracfacsam is 100% right, this would do great as a mobile game, the vertical screen but even more so the "tap" control would be even better than using a mouse IMO.

There are two things I would like to have:

1. An indicator of how many clicks I have remaining (maybe its there and I'm just missing it) Okay yep I'm seeing this now

2. More time to fall before I go into the "final fall" - again, maybe I just missed it, but there were several times where I thought I still had clicks left, and was strategically letting the pickaxe fall to hit a dynamite or diamond, but then entered freefall. Might just be me not realizing I was out of clicks though.

Again, I want to emphasize how enjoyable this is, out of the 10 or so jam games I've played so far, this one stands out as the one that should be made into a full game, especially since I think it works perfectly as a mobile game. Congratulations on a job well done!

Heyo, thank you so much for playing and for the  feedback! We're really glad to hear you enjoyed the game! It means a lot, especially coming from someone who's been checking out a bunch of jam entries.

You're totally right about both points. The click indicator is there, but indeed it is easy to miss, so that’s definitely something we could make clearer. And yeah, the transition into the final fall needs some tweaking.

Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, and congrats on that high score too. Cheers!

Really fun little game, very well presented. The sound effects are spot on. My only suggestion is that I wish I could've seen a little further ahead while going up so I could try to plan my pushes a bit more strategically, as it is now I mostly felt like I was just guessing where ore/explosives were because I didn't know what was coming.

If ever a game was prime for a vertical screen (like a phone), this is it.

Thanks for taking the time to review our game! We really appreciate it. You're absolutely right  we're a bit lacking in the "UI area" (not quite UI but not sure how to classify it) , and your suggestion is 100% valid. Thanks for bringing it up! ❤️
